Islami Bank Limited and Plan Bangladesh have extended their ties with Bangladesh football as title sponsors of school football and women’s football respectively, informed Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin on Monday.
The BFF organised a nationwide school football tournament involving 4,800 schools and nearly one lakh footballers after signing a contract with the Islami Bank in November, 2011.
Islami Bank will sign the new contract on Wednesday, which is worth more than the previous contract of Tk 5 crore.
‘We will sign the deal on Wednesday with Islami Bank. The deal will be worth more than the previous amount and it will be utilised towards the national
team and its development,’ said Salahuddin.
On the other hand, Plan Bangladesh, a worldwide non-government organisation, has also lengthened its partnership with the football governing body. They will provide $2.5 lakh over the nexy three years to improve women’s football through a nationwide talent-hunt programme.
The BFF will pluck talented women footballers from the district-level which will be followed by a divisional tournament.
The BFF will also set up an age-level competition keeping in mind the AFC Women’s Championship qualifiers next year.
The deal with Plan Bangladesh is expected to be signed on July 18.
Meanwhile, the BFF has decided to give the charge of the school football committee to Tabith Awal, one of the vice-presidents of the BFF, replacing the previous chairman Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of ATN Bangla.
