The under-19 women’s football team of Jordan and India arrived in the city yesterday to take part in the Group B qualifying-1 round matches of the AFC U-19 women’s championship that begins on Monday at the Birshreshtha Mostafa Kamal Stadium at Kamalapur.
Iran, the other participants apart from hosts Bangladesh, will arrive today. India will take on Iran in the opening match of the championship at 3:30pm on Monday while Bangladesh meets Jordan at 7:30 pm the same day.
Bangladesh play their next match on September 22 against Iran and take on India in the last match on September 24.
Philippines will entertain Myanmar, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan in Group A.
The winners from each group will advance to the second round to be held in Kuala Lumpur over October 21-30.
