Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club got off to a winning start in the Federation Cup football when they blanked Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool 3-0 at the Kamalapur stadium on Wednesday.
In the other match of the day, Bangladesh League outfit Arambagh KC beat BKSP in tie-breaker after stipulated 90 minutes ended in a goalless draw.
Emily put Jamal ahead in just the second minute from a penalty after Mokhles had brought down Zahid inside the box. Emily found the back of the net with a header from a Zahid cross on 14
minutes to double the lead. Enamul struck the
third goal in the 57th minute moments after the referee ruled out a goal by Zahid for offside. Fakirerpool had their best attack at the fag end, but Amiul easily foiled the attempt made by their striker Gafur.
Brothers Union will open their campaign today with a match against Chittagong Mohammedan SC while Chittagong Abahani will face Rahmatganj MFS in the day’s other match.
