After a difficult match against Australia, Bangladesh can expect little respite as Jordan football team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today for their next World Cup qualifying match.
Bangladesh, who lost to Socceroos 0-5, will face Jordan at home on September 8.
A 38-member Jordan national football team is expected to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:20pm today.
Bangladesh were also on their way to home from Australia when this report was filed.
Jordan, ranked 91st in the world, were held by Kyrgyzstan for a goalless draw in their last World Cup qualifying match in Amman on Thursday.
Bangladesh will be hoping to use their home advantage to frustrate the Arab nation, who came close to qualifying in the last World Cup in Brazil before being eliminated by Uruguay in the play-offs.
Bangladesh captain Mamunul Islam hoped that the experience of playing against Australia will help them in the Jordan match.
‘We learnt a lot from the match against Australia and now we know how we should approach against big opponents,’ Mamunul told reporters before leaving Perth.
‘I hope this experience will help us to face Jordan in our own condition and our target is to play better football.’
Bangladesh lost to Kyrgyzstan 1-3 in their first match before playing a 1-1 draw against Tajikistan in their previous two home matches of the current campaign.
Bangladesh coach Lodewijk de Kruif is expected to return to the dugout during the Jordan match after serving out two-match ban.
