Chittagong Kings head coach Khaled Mahmud urged his charges not to sleep on their laurels as they will be up against a tough opposition, Khulna Royal Bengals, in their second match of the Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday.
The Kings won their first match in the BPL quite comprehensively against Duronto Rajshahi by 53 runs to gain some much-needed momentum in the tournament.
‘Khulna Royal Bengals have multi skilled performers like Sakib [al Hasan] and Nasir [Hossain],’ Mahmud told reporters while conducting an optional practice session at the GP-BCB academy ground on Friday.
‘With their local and overseas combination they are quite a force. The experience of [Shivnarine] Chanderpaul will be invaluable for them,’ he said.
Khulna underlined their credential as favourites alongside Kings with a 19-run win over much-hyped Dhaka Gladiators in their first game on Saturday.
Mahmud said that they are quite charged up for the match as he has some good performers as well.
Though, Tamim Iqbal, the icon could not score runs and with one half-century by Pakistani unfancied Nasir Jamshed, Chittagong Kings reached 206-4 which took their confidence level higher.
‘I think it proves our depth of strength. Though Tamim and Omi [Jahirul Islam] did not click, we managed to put up 200-plus score on the board,’ said Mahmud.
‘We still have areas to improve in our bowling and fielding,’ he added.
