Former national skipper Khaled Mahmud will continue as the national cricket team manager until the ICC World Twenty20 next year, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Wednesday.
Nazmul’s comments made to a private television channel ended all speculations regarding the position.
A recent media report suggested that BCB might appoint former national cricketer and Test umpire, Enamul Haque as a permanent manager.
Enamul, currently an umpire of ICC international panel, saw little future for him in umpiring career and approached to the BCB officials for a managerial role, suggested the report.
However, Nazmul said Mahmud is still his favourite for the position.
‘Khaled Mahmud will remain as the team manager for the next home series against Australia. We are not thinking of his alternative at the moment,’ he said.
‘We are even thinking of keeping him till the next ICC World Twenty20,’ said Nazmul. ‘We will appoint a permanent team manager only after the tournament.’
The ICC World Twenty20 will be held in India from March 11 to April 3 next year.
