Mohammedan Sporting Club’s title hopes suffered a huge blow when they lost by 1-3 to Mariner Young’s Club in their Premier Hockey League match at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. With the precious win, Mariner moved to the third place of the points table with 25 points from 10 matches, one less than holders Abahani Limited while Mohammedan slipped to fourth place with 23 points.
For Mariner their Pakistani forward Waqas Sharif scored a brace while Arshad Hossain scored the other.
Pakistani recruit Tasvar Abbas scored the lone goal for Mohammedan from the penalty corner.
Meanwhile in the day’s other match, Wari Club thrashed Railway SRC 13-1 with Shihab scoring five goals while Imran struck thrice and Musa Miah netted two.
