Bangladesh national football team lost 2-1 to Osotspa Saraburi in the first practice match of their Thailand tour at the Saraburi Central Stadium on Wednesday.
Osotspa Saraburi forward Narong scored both the goals for his team, while substitute striker Shakhawat Hossain Rony reduced the margin from the penalty spot.
Osotspa, a Thai Premier League side, have six foreign players – three from Japan and three from Africa. They have also five national team footballers.
According to a BFF source, Bangladesh national team put pressure on the home side from the very beginning but their forwards Zahid Hasan Ameli and Wahed Ahmed failed to utilise several chances.
Bangladesh conceded the first goal in the 24 minute when Chamana after getting a ball from counter-attack delivered a cross from the left for Narong to prod it home, though it seemed that the ball had touched the hand of Narong but referee didn’t give a handball.
Narong made the scoreline 2-0 on 68 minutes with a powerful shot from the top of the box.
In the 85th minute, one of the defenders of Osotspa fouled Toklis inside the area and Rony scored from the penalty.
Lodewijk de Kruif, the national team’s Dutch coach, however, was not so much disappointed with the result of the match.
‘We have to work on our weaknesses. Our opponents were more matured than us, so we conceded two goals. After the match I pointed out some mistakes and we have to deal with that,’ said Kruif after the match.
Chalemvud, the head coach of Osotspa Saraburi, who is also a former national team player of Thailand, praised the Bangladesh side for their aggressive movement and tactics.
‘Bangladesh players are very good in movement and tactics but they have problem in the striking zone. In movement they are better than my team,’ said the Osotspa coach.
De Kruif rested captain Mamunul Islam, winger Zahid Hossain and Germany-based Reasat Islam due to minor injuries. Bangladesh will play another practice match on August 3 but the opponents are yet to be finalised.
