Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their supremacy in the age-level football as they retained the Under-18 Club Football Tournament trophy with a 2-0 win over Brothers Union in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday. Though the senior side of MSC failed to win the league title for a decade, their youth teams are consistently producing triumphant squad at the age-level football under the supervision of former national team player Jashimuddin Joshi.
The traditional Black and White outfit were also triumphant in the inaugural edition of the Under-16 Club Football Tournament last year.
In the final, Mohammedan
had to wait for their first goal
till the 70th minute when their skipper Bodrul Hasan Tutul broke the deadlock with a spectacular right-footed shot.
Nizam Uddin summed up the win for the winners with a stoppage time strike.
Bodrul Hasan Badsha of Mohammedan was adjudged man-of-the-final while his team-mate midfielder Akash Saha was declared the player-of-the-tournament.
Joshimuddin Joshi was nominated the best coach of the tournament while the MSC keeper Saiful Islam Khan won the best goalkeeper award.
