Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra registered their first win in the Independence Cup when they beat Brothers Union with a narrow 1-0 margin at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
In the other match of the day, Arambagh Krira Sangha and Feni Soccer Club played a 1-1 draw.
Nigerian forward Ahmed Kolo Musa scored the all important goal in the first half to give Muktijoddha a welcome win after a 0-2 lose against Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra in their first match of the tournament.
Brothers, on the other hand, failed to break their misery as they suffered second consecutive defeat in after a winning start in group A.
Muktijoddha missed a chance to take the lead in the half-hour mark when Towhidul Alam’s poor attempt following a neat square pass from Musa was easily saved by Brothers goalkeeper Uttam Kumar.
Musa made no mistake to give the deserving lead in the 40th minute and this time Towhidul provided a through pass to his Nigerian team-mate, who nicely placed the ball home.
In the second half, Towhidul again wasted a chance to double the lead when his header on a Sohel Rana cross went straight to the Brothers keeper.
Muktijoddha have now three points from two matches while Brothers also have equal earning from one more match.
Earlier in the first match, both Arambagh and Feni scored one goal apiece after a barren first half.
Arambagh took the lead in the 58th minute through forward Mohammad Abdullah but Feni restored the parity just seven minutes later when Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan placed the ball home between two Arambagh defenders.
