Muktijoddha Sangsad returned to winning ways after two consecutive defeats thrashing Chittagong Abahani 6-0 in their Bangladesh Premier League match at Gopalgonj on Tuesday.
Nigerian forwards Sunday Chizuba and Nkwocha Kingsley each struck a hat-trick as Muktijoddha enthralled fans in their first match in makeshift home venue.Despite the win Muktijoddha remained in fifth position of the points table with 21 points from 14 games, one point shy of their nearest rivals Brothers Union. Sunday started the goal fest in the 16th minute while Kingsley added two more in the 39th and 42nd minutes as Muktijoddha take 3-0 lead in the first half.
Sunday scored his second goal four minutes after the break before Kingsley completed his treble in the 76th minute.
Sunday joined his compatriot Kingsley in select group of players to claim a hat-trick in BPL 10 minutes from the time.
Muktijoddha coach Shafiqul Islam Manik said that his team would have done better, if they were give chances to play in their home ground before.
‘My team played better than the last two games and the local supporters gave us extra-confidence to our players,’ said Manik.
‘We repeatedly requested in the past to allow us playing in our home venue. So, if we were given the chance to play the previous matches here, we would have earned more points than now,’ said Manik over the phone.
