Middle-order batsman Nasir Hossain said on Wednesday that playing against India ‘A’ team is a better option than participating in the National Cricket League.
Nasir was chosen as the vice-captain of Bangladesh ‘A’ team that will tour to India from September 13 to 29 for a series compromising with three one-day matches and two three-day games.
The matches of the series include a longer-version game against Ranji champion Karnataka.
The series coincides with the schedule of NCL, which begins on September 18.
The national probables for the home series against Australia were expected to play in the first round of the NCL.
‘Certainly, it will be a much better option than national league as it will be against India ‘A’ team,’ Nasir told reporters at Mirpur on Wednesday.
‘India ‘A’ team is a very strong side. Our focus will be much greater there than that in the NCL,’ said Nasir.
‘There will be tough competition. Our players will be eager to perform well there.’
Nasir believes that it will be ideal ahead of the series against Australia.
‘I consider it as the preparation for the Australia series. May be that is the reason why many players of the national team are in the team. If we play well, it will be beneficial for Australia series,’ said Nasir.
‘It is good that the three-day matches will be held later. We can play Tests against Australia after finishing those matches,’ said Nasir.
Australia is scheduled to tour Bangladesh from September 28 to play two Test matches against the Tigers with the matches scheduled in Chittagong and Dhaka respectively from October 9-13 and 17-21.
