Brazil and their fans may breathe a sigh of relief, as Neymar has healed from his ankle injury and will play against South Korea in the World Cup pre-quarterfinals on Monday.
The 30-year-old was out for two matches due to an ankle injury sustained in Brazil’s opening triumph over Serbia. However, he has resumed practicing with the club, and coach Tite has said he is well enough to return to action.
“He will train this afternoon, and if he trains well, he will play,” said Tite.
“He had a specific training program. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, I don’t give out information that isn’t true.
“Throughout my career I have always had credibility. He will train, and if he is well, he will play. I won’t say anything about the other 10 players.”
Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a knee injury during Brazil’s loss to Cameroon.
Reports in South America suggested the Arsenal man was already injured before playing, but Tite denied those suggestions.
“I don’t like hearing lies out there – these are evil lies,” Tite said.
“They are put about by people who want to do bad things for other people. At no time do we play for victory by putting players in peril.
“My message to these liars: stop giving fake news. Arsenal have a great medical department – we have a great medical department. We are ethical. We are very sorry for Gabriel, but this never happened.”
