The French soccer player has opted to have surgery on his right knee and the recovery time could prevent him from taking part in the competition, which will be held this winter.
It’s been a turbulent start to the season for Paul Pogba and judging by some recent revelations, things are only going to get worse. The French footballer has not been able to make an official comeback to Juventus since returning to the team on a free transfer from Manchester United, and to make matters worse, the player could be forced to watch the FIFA World Cup at home due to a premature knee injury.
The former Manchester United midfielder was supposed to play a role when Juventus tour to PSG in Matchweek 1 of the UEFA Champions League, but suffered a minor pain in his right knee during yesterday’s training session while kicking. After completing the preliminary tests, it was decided that the player needed surgery as soon as possible.
Pogba had repeatedly ruled out the possibility of medical surgery on his knee, but coach Massimiliano Allegri has already explained that the player’s recovery period from this surgery could force him to miss the World Cup.
If everything goes according to plan for Pogba and the French team, he could be ready to play in Qatar after completing his recovery in just 60 days. Still, it’s safe to assume that even the best-case scenario might not be enough for Pogba to keep his place in the national team. Is there a chance of his return in time for the World Cup? Only time can tell.
