After a lot of off-the-field drama, the Bangladesh Cricket Board shifted its focus to on-field activities by resuming the national team’s practice today ahead of the home series against New Zealand in October.
The BCB was busy in the last few days with the implementation of a pathway to complete the long overdue election process after receiving a court ruling in favour of taking steps to complete it.
It was followed by the naming of nine individuals in the match-fixing report submitted by the officials of the International Cricket Council recently.
The 12 available national cricketers will finally return to the field for a skill training camp after the Eid-ul-Fitr break. Before the Eid holidays, the cricketers went through the rigours of a hectic three-week fitness camp.
National skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and his deputy Mahmudullah Riyad will be joined in the camp by Mashrafee bin Murtaza, Shafiul Islam, Nazmul Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Shahriar Nafees, Enamul Haque Jr, Mehrab Hossain Jr, Sajidul Islam, Muktar Ali and Nasir Hossain.
Most of the other national cricketers are engaged with the Bangladesh A team’s UK tour while all-rounder Sakib al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal are playing for their respective franchises in the Caribbean Premier League.
Head coach Shane Jurgensen, who returned to the country on Saturday after completing his vacation in Australia, will conduct the camp.
