The ninth edition of the Ascent 5-a-side Corporate Football saw a major upset on the opening day when the defending champions Dhaka Tribune lost to Qubee 3-2 at the STM Hall of the Scholastica School at Uttara on Friday. Yasir of Qubee was the star of the match by hitting a hat-trick while Miru and Moon scored a goal apiece for the losers. On the other hand, five-time champions and last year’s runners-up Beximco Pharma outclassed Accenture 8-1 with last edition’s Golden Boot winner Adil scoring four goals while Tinku, Sunny netted a brace each for the winners. Shatil scored a consolation for Accenture.
In the day’s other matches, Bando Design hammered Trust Bank 12-1. For the winners, their captain Imran and Shakil both fired four goals each while Mamun and Mobarak shared the other four goals between them.
IDFC blanked Aarong Dairy 3-0 with Md Rashidul Hasan scoring a brace and captain Biplob getting the other one.
HRC Group gave Metronet a footballing lesson by thumping them 10-0. Rezwanur Rahman Sijon bagged highest five goals as Rion scored a treble and Ferdous and Nazrul Haque scored one goal each.
