National football coach Robert Rubcic on Wednesday named a 26-member preliminary squad for the Olympic pre-qualifiers against Kuwait in February-March next year.
The coach along with his deputy Saiful Bari Titu decided the team after two trial matches, participated by 65 young footballers on December 11.
The team comprises only four players – Mintu Sheikh, Monaem Khan Raju, Touhidul Alam Sabuj and Mithun Chowdhury – from the side that played in the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China last month.
The players have been requested to report to Rubcic
on December 19 to attend for a training camp which will be followed by two practice matches.
Bangladesh Under-23 side will play two matches away and at home against Kuwait respectively on February 23 and March 9 next year.
