For over three decades, prominent Tagore singer Sadi Muhammad has been delighting the music lovers of the country with his melodious voice. It is good news for Sadi fans that the artiste is currently working on two solo albums-one featuring twelve songs of Tagore and another including the same number of
songs by five great poets
Sadi Muhammad shared about his upcoming albums in an interview with New Age.
Regarding the Tagore album, Sadi added. ‘I chose songs which are not that familiar with an intention of introducing the audience to more of Tagore’s great work.’
The songs in the album include Kul theke mor gaaner tori, Ami nishi nishi tobo, and several others.
Sadi has included his favorite songs of the great five poets—Kazi Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore, Rajnikant Sen, Atul Prasad and Dwijendra Lal Roy—in his other album called Pancha Kabi. The track list will comprise evergreen songs including Rajanikanta’s Akriti ami adhom ami, Atul Prasad’s Ami badhinu tomar torey and Bodhua nind akhi patey, Bela furaye jay, and several others.
‘I have prioritised my personal liking when selecting songs for the album,’ informed Sadi, who developed his skills as a singer under the guidance of legendary Tagore singers such as Sri Shantideb Ghosh and Kanika Bandyopadhyay at Shantiniketan, India. He has also been long involved in teaching music.
The singer further professed that the present political unrest is hampering the progress of his two albums. He said, ‘I’ll take time and restart recording for the albums once the country’s situation becomes better.’
The Tagore album will be produced and distributed by Bengal Foundation and production house of the other album is yet to be finalized. The singer has not decided any title for the albums.
