The Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia Joint Economic Commission has agreed to assist each other in football and cricket, said Bangladesh Football Federation general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag on Monday. Both parties decided that Saudi Arabia will help develop Bangladesh football and in return Bangladesh will provide assistance to improve the game of cricket in Saudi Arabia. The ministry for youth and sports earlier sent a letter to the BFF informing them about the matter and it also wanted to know about their decision. The BFF gave a positive response to the ministry’s proposal.
‘We got a letter from the ministry where they informed that the KSA wants to give support to develop our youth football, and they sought Bangladesh’s help in developing their cricket,’ said Sohag.
‘We replied to the ministry positively because it will be a great opportunity for us,’ he added.
The commission is yet to finalise the programmes in this regard but the ministry gave some hints that Saudi Arabia will set up a training camp for the youth teams and they will also organise some matches for Bangladesh.
