Shahartoli came to discussion after releasing a song on Felani tragedy that made the people protest against such barbaric border killings by
Border Security Force of India.
In fact, most of the songs of its debut album, Borabor, released by the band in 2011 were social message oriented.
The band, which has also developed a distinctive music style, has recently released yet another album featuring songs on socio-political issues like the Shahbag movement, life of helpless human being, the loneliness of a boy who has lost his mother and many others.
The album titled Opor Prishtha Drashtabyo includes 10 songs such as Mukh bandho, Khor kutto, Neelika, Ma, Gano joar, Badhon, Palai palai, Shur ashur, Ahoban and Desh maatar kanche chithi.
‘Our songs convey strong messages,’ shared the lyricist and bass guitarist of the band Mohammad Tapan Mahmud with New Age.
He hopes that the audience will love the album for the diverse songs in terms of music and lyrics.
Shahartoli was formed in 2006. The band line up includes Hamidur Rahman Khan Mishu on guitar and vocals, Mohammad Tapan Mahmud on bass and lyric, Shariful Islam Sunny on drums, Zillur Rahman Shohag on vocals, Shourov Hossain on guitar, and Rupom Rahman on keyboard.
