Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club continued their winning run in the Bangladesh Premier League with a 4-2 victory over Feni Soccer Club at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Haitian Wedson Anselme, Nigerian Ameka Darlington, Cameroonian Okemmiri and local striker Mobarak Hossain netted for Sheikh Jamal, while two late goals from Motiur Rahman and Azmal Hossain Biddyut reduced the margin of defeat for Feni Soccer.
This was the third consecutive victory for the Dhanmondi-based outfit, who won their first two matches against Chittagong Abahani and Brothers Union by comfortable margins.
In the absence of their two main attackers – Haitian Sony Norde and Mamunul Islam – Sheikh Jamal had no trouble in taking control of the match.
Sheikh Jamal opened their account in the 27th minute when Mobarak’s header off Wedson’s corner from the left went past the Feni keeper at the near post.
Wedson doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time after Sohel Rana was brought down by defender Akramuzzaman Liton inside the box. Wedson converted the spot-kick to make it 2-0.
In the 61st minute Darlington, who had a hat-trick in the last match, played with compatriot Okemmiti on the right flank and sent the ball into an empty net after the onrushing goalkeeper failed to clear the ball.
Okemmiri completed the scoring for Sheikh Jamal in the 69th minute with a 35-yard right-footed shot that hit the target on one bounce.
Feni substitute forward Motiur scored with a back header off an Alauddin corner in the 81st minute and Azmal converted a spot-kick after Syed Rashed Turzo was brought down by Kesto in added time.
