Dhallywood actor Shimla has made her debut in Kolkata film industry known as Tollywood. She has paired up with the Bollywood superstar Govinda in the film Samadhi, which will hit cinemas in Paschimbanga on November 15.
In fact, Dipak Sanyal’s big budget film features actors and crews from Bollywood, Tollywood and Dhallywood. Besides Shimla, another Dhallywood actor Ferdaus performs in the film along with Indian actors like Gracy Singh and Sayali Baghat.
Noted Indian musician Bappi Lahiri has composed the playbacks in which leading Bollywodd singers like Sadhana Sargam, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Mohuya Bose and Shaan have lent voice.
Simla plays the character of a wife of a high placed police official enacted by Govinda in the film.
Working in a Kolkata film was a charming experience for the actor. ‘I hope the audience of Paschimbanga will like the film,’ Shimla told New Age adding that she would decide her career in Tollywood evaluating the success of the film.
Sharing her experience of working with Govinda, Shimla said, ‘Working with a renowned actor like Govinda was a nice experience for me. He is a very good dancer, a nice man with a good soul. During shooting, Govinda usually makes everyone smile with his jovial behaviour,’ Shimla said.
Shimla further said that she was busy in Dhallywood films. ‘I’m acting in Masud Pathik’s Nekabborer Mahaprayan, which is an adaptation of Nirmelendu Goon’s poem having the same title,’ she said.
In the film Nekabborer Mahaprayan, Shimla will play the role of a rural woman named Fatema who was caught and tortured by the Pakistani soldiers during the war of independence. After the war, Fatema dies while giving birth to a war child.
Shimla got the National Film Award acting in her debut film Madam Phuli, directed by Shahidul Islam Khokon. So far, she has acted in 30 feature films including Jiban Simantey and Rupgawal.
