Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club had faced huge trouble to form a squad before they left for Malaysia on Saturday night to play their fourth AFC Cup match against hosts Selangor FA, scheduled on April 12.
Jamal coach Shafiqul Islam Manik had to leave with a 13-member squad that was filled mostly with their second-string side benchers.Among their 22-member squad, Jamal will not get the service of —Jamal Bhuiyan, Yeamin Ahmed Chowdhury, Sohel Rana, Shahidul Alam Sohel— who were available in their first three matches.
Along with them four other players — Mamunul Islam, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, Rayhan Hasan and Alomgir Kabir Rana—have been waiting for the final verdict from the High Court regarding their fate.
Jamal made a plea to return them these players despite their transfer to other clubs during the players’ transfer early in the season claiming they took advance from the Dhanmondi-based club.
Jamal also will miss the services of Hemanta Vincent Biswas, Monayem Khan Raju and Zahed Pervez Chowdhury for their injuries.
Jamal coach Manik stated that he has nothing to do but to include some irregular players in the best XI.
‘The situation is very difficult for us and we are really struggling to form a best XI,’ said the coach adding that, ‘We have to include some players like Rabbi Hasan Murad and Rakin Ahmed who didn’t play a single match in the Independence Cup.’
Manik said that a miracle would be required to save his side from a disaster against the Malaysian
top club Salengor, who tasted a nail-biting 4-3 win against them in Dhaka on March 15.
