Wahed Ahmed again found the back of the opponents’ net, helping his National Team Blue side to a 2-1 win over National Team Red in the sixth practice match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday, ahead of the national team’s tour of Thailand later this month.
Coming from the behind, Shohel Rana and Wahed sealed the win for the blue side after Toklis Ahmed put his red side ahead in the 16th minute.
National team coach Lodewijk de Kruif is likely to be happy with his forward line, which has been striking regularly in the practice matches.
Toklis, who played on the right wing, put the red side ahead with a diving header before Shohel Rana leveled the score with a left-footed strike in the 70th minute. Wahed sealed the match with a header in the 80th minute to raise his goal tally to six in as many matches. Toklis and Zahid Hasan Ameli have also scored three goals each.
The national team will travel to Thailand later this month to play two international friendlies against the hosts. De Kruif would like to see his strikers score against their Thai opponents like they have in the practice matches.
Though the forward line has impressed De Kruif by showing their regular scoring ability, the Dutch coach is still searching for the right players for his defense. De Kruif is also yet to finalise who will be between the goalposts, with Biplob Bhattayacharya and Mamun Khan playing most of the minutes during the practice matches and Shahidul Islam Sohel also in contention.
De Kruif would like to play another practice match ahead of the Thailand tour, though the Thailand Football Association has yet to finalise the tour schedule.
