Test opener Tamim Iqbal got his domestic form back as he scored a marvelous century for Chittagong against Barisal on the second day of the third round match in Chittagong on Sunday.
In yet another batsmen dominated day, Tamim added 47 runs to his overnight 90 to score 137 and Tasamul Haque added 107 runs to take the hosts to 444-7 in their first innings at stumps.Shamsur Rahman remained not out with 118 to put Dhaka Metropolis on 221-4, replying to Dhaka’s 327 runs in the first innings at Fatullah.
Imtiaz Hossain of Sylhet division, who resumed on 125, made 154 as Sylhet made 328 runs before Rajshahi division finished the day on 183-3.
Bowlers, however, enjoyed the Khulna pitch where Rangpur secured a slender nine-run lead before they were all-out for 220.
Khulna, 211 all-out in the first inning, reached 30-0, leading by 21 runs at stumps.
Chittagong v Barisal
Tamim struck 17 boundaries and three sixes in his 302-minute long innings before the most successful Test opener of Bangladesh got out for 137 runs off 229 balls.
He made 154-run third wicket stand with Tasamul, who made 107 runs of 292 balls with nine boundaries and two sixes.
Off-spinners Sohag Gazi got 3-114 and Al-Amin grabbed 2-56 for Barisal.
Dhaka v Dhaka Metro
Right-handed batsman of Dhaka, Roqibul Hasan, who resumed on 89, got agonisingly short of the three-figure mark as he got out for 99.
spo08Dhaka faced a collapse in the morning as they lost their last six wickets for just 60 runs and crumbled for 327 after they resumed on 261-4.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny added three more wickets with his three scalps on the first day to return with a figure of 6-96 for Metro.
In reply, Metro got off to a solid start with 98 runs in the opening stand between Saykat Ali (48) and Shamsur Rahman, who remained not out on 118 off 201 balls.
Rajshahi v Sylhet
Imtiaz Hossain smashed fifteen boundaries and a six in his more than seven and a half hour long innings and made a 155-run fifth wicket partnership with Ruman Ahmed to rescue Sylhet recover from 82-4 to post 328.
In reply, Rajshahi’s opner Nazmul Hossain (62) and Farhad Hossain
made a 143-run second wicket partnership as Rajshahi ended the day with 183-3.
Farhad was not out on 80 with 12 fours.
Khulna v Rangpur
Like Raqibul, Nasir Hossain of Rangpur was a victim of a nervous ninety as he was out for 96 but that was good enough for his side to fetch an important nine-run lead in the first innings.
National Under-19 skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz claimed 6-50, his successive six-wicket haul, which came after his 63 runs with the bat.
