For a talented singer like Tausif, Eid is always an occasion for a new release. On the occasion of the upcoming Eid, his sixth solo album Onidra was released yesterday. The album has been brought out by G-Series. In a conversation with daily sun recently Tausif spoke about his new album, his journey to the musical arena and more.
For a medical college student, singing is something which can be quite challenging at times.
“It is all about the indomitable passion for music which is within me. It is the force which drives me. Whatever time I can squeeze out of my busy daily life, I spend it on singing,” said Tausif.
Tausif is currently a student at Bangladesh Medical College. Apart from singing, he also writes his own songs.
Asked about his inspiration in life, Tausif replied, “If I am asked to speak about my greatest inspiration in life then I’ll mention the name of my father. Wherever I stand today, it is because of him.”
“I grew up in a culturally oriented family. My family members, especially my father, are very fond of music. Father has been a music aficionado all his life and used to perform at Rangpur Betar when he was a student of Rangpur Medical College,” Tausif continued.
“During holidays my father used to sit with us, sing and play dotara, a traditional musical instrument. And those musical sessions inspired me a lot,” he added.
“I write poems from a very early age. One day my mentor Tofy Renar, from whom I have learnt music composition, saw one of my poems. Later, he introduced me to Khaled Bhai of G-Series. After seeing my poem Brishti jhorey jay, Khaled Bhai decided to bring out my poems and so my debut Obhipray album came out in 2006 and after that I never had to look back,” said Tausif.
Speaking about his special album on Eid, Tausif said, “I am optimistic about the success of the album and I hope people will like it very much. It is a soft melody album.”
Tausif’s other albums are Opekhkha released in 2007, Onneshon released in 2008, Onukhon released in 2009 and Onukabyo released in 2010.
Among his popular songs are Brishti jhorey jay, Durey kothao, Ek polokey, Mon kadey sharabela, Eka eka and Otripto onubhuti.
About his future plans Tausif said, “I want to create such songs which will be remembered for ever.”
