Bangladesh Under-16 boys suffered a 2-0 defeat in their AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers against Yemen at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Friday.
In their first match of Group E, Bangladeshi boys put up a spirited show against the Yemenis but could not prevent the defeat, which now left them fighting for second spot against Qatar on Sunday.
Yemen, who beat Qatar 6-1 in their first match, qualified for the final round with successive wins.
Yemen goalkeeper denied Bangladesh from scoring twice. If they could score, the complexion of the game could be different.
Yemen took the lead in the added time of the first half when Sultan Yousuf converted from the penalty spot.
Yemen had to wait to until the stoppage time of second half to double their lead when Osman Samer tapped home to wrap up the victory.
