The FIFA World Cup trophy will arrive in Dhaka on a special chartered plane on Tuesday after its visit in the United Arab Emirates, said an official of beverage company Coca Cola on Saturday.
The most prestigious sporting trophy of the world is currently journeying around the world and after touring Dhaka, it will leave for Bhutan on December 20.
The original trophy is being brought to Bangladesh for the very first time.
The Bangladesh Football Federation formed three committees to work closely with Coca Cola for the purpose of displaying the trophy and carrying out some other arrangements.
The BFF and Coca Cola jointly disclosed the schedule of the FIFA World Cup visit at a press conference on Saturday at the BFF House.
‘The trophy will arrive at 1:00pm on December 17 by a special chartered plane of Coca Cola and FIFA before being taken to Hotel Radisson for a session with the media and stakeholders,’ said Debashish Deb, country head of Coca Cola Far-East Limited.
‘For the next two days the trophy will be on show at the Bangabandhu National Stadium where 15,000 ticket-holders will be eligible to witness the original trophy.
‘Around 9000 of them will be selected from Coca Cola’s campaign and another 6000 stakeholders will receive complementary tickets,’ he added.
The organising committee said that they are going to talk with the President, Advocate Abdul Hamid, on whether to receive the trophy at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport or at Bangabhaban.
