Team BJMC increased the relegation tension for Arambagh Krira Sangha by beating the bottom-of the-table side 2-0 in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
BJMC took an early lead with their Nigerian midfielder Henry Chindo scoring the first while Guinean midfielder Ismail Bangoura doubled the lead in the dying minutes to secure their third win in the competition.
Chindo scored in the 28th minute, heading home a pin-point cross by Toklis Ahmed from the right flank.
However, Arambagh replied with a series of counter-attacks but their strikers failed to give the finishing touch as they could not come back in the match.
In the 44th minute, Arambagh’s Nigerian winger Benebene Faticho curled a precise cross from left but BJMC goalkeeper Aminul Islam fisted the ball away before Arambagh skipper Ujumefume Joel could touch the ball.
Benebene once again came close to a goal from a long range attempt in the added-on time of the first half but once again he was denied by Aminul who palmed the ball for a corner.
In the 88th minute BJMC’s Nigerian forward Elita Kinglsey failed to connect a low cross from Ismael Bangoura from the middle of the box but Bangoura did not make the same mistake two minutes later.
He slotted the ball into the Arambagh net neatly from close in the injury time. BJMC finished their first leg of the competition with 11 points from eight matches while Arambagh earned three points from eight appearances.
