Brothers Union opened their account in the Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday when they beat Arambagh Krira Sangha 2-0 in their seventh match of the league despite being reduced to ten men in the first-half stoppage time.
Brothers, who are under threat of being relegated after losing all of their first six matches, got an early 19-minute lead with their Brazilian forward Garcia converting a penalty while their Nigerian recruit Kingsley Chigozie doubled the margin in the second half in a solo effort.
The Gopibagh outfit, however, lost their key defender Ashraful Karim minutes before the breather when the youngster was sent off for a dreadful foul on Arambagh’s Nche Francis.
Chigozie scored the second goal for his side in the 60th minute, dribbling past two defenders and placing the ball at the far post from the left-hand side of the box.
With their first win in the league Brothers got only three points in their bag, equal to their day’s challengers Arambagh who also played seven matches.
