Chittagong Abahani, the port city Bangladesh Premier League outfit, have appointed Slovakian Jozev Pavlik their coach for the forthcoming season, said the club on Friday.
The cash-rich club have already formed a strong squad by luring in a group of national players from other clubs, also confirmed the inclusion of Moroccan midfielder Tarik El Janaby and Haitian forward Febrice Noela from Malaysian Premier League side Kautan FA.
The 42-year old UEFA A licensed coach Pavlik will arrive here next week to take the charge of the club, who have already started their pre-season preparation camp in Chittagong under the veteran
local coach Nazrul Islam Ledu.
‘Pavlik is likely to arrive next week and we also requested him to bring a trainer,’ said Chittagong Abahani football manager Shakil Mahmud Chowdhury.
Chittagong Abahani hogged the limelight after lifting the maiden Skeikh Kamal International Club Cup last year under the tutelage of Shafiqul Islam Manik, who also helped the side to recruit the best local players including midfielder Mamunul
Islam and winger Zahid Hossain.
But later Manik left the club due to some internal crisis in the club and later he took the charge of defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Chittagong Abahani director Tarafder Ruhul Amin said that they were determined to form a strong squad with the mixture of quality local and foreign players.
‘Not only local players, we are also ready to recruit some quality foreign players,’ he said.
‘Moroccan midfielder Tarik, who played for Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra in 2012, is a known face in Dhaka, has already joined the camp.
‘We recruited former Haiti national team forward Noel, who will also arrive here shortly.’
Noel, who played 20 matches for Hati national team, is going to be the fifth Haitian player after Sony Norde, Pascal Millien, Wedson Anselme and Augustine Walson to play in the Bangladesh Premier League.
‘Besides them, we are also looking to add two more Europe based players for the next season.’
