Osei Morison scored a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw for Mohammedan SC against Team BJMC in their Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Nigerian striker Eleta Kinsley put BJMC ahead in the 45th minute which looked like would enough to secure a win for the side before Morison grabbed the dramatic equaliser two minutes from time.
This was a repeat of their first encounter in which BJMC took the lead through Ismael Bangoura and Morison restored parity for Mohammedan in the dying minutes.
The latest result means both sides stick to their previous positions with Mohammedan remaining at the fourth position with 17 points from 12 matches and BJMC just behind them with 16 points from the same number of matches.
Coming into this match Mohammedan took confidence from their win against star-studded Sheikh Russell KC but they could not translate it in the game against a spirited BJMC side.
The Black and White outfit survived two serious scares in the first quarters before they launched their first attack in the 34th minute when winger Shariful Islam floated a cross from the right for Morison, who had only opponent goalkeeper Arifuzzaman Himel to beat.
But the miscued header from the Nigerian could hardly make any trouble to Himel.
BJMC took the deserved lead in the closing seconds of first half when Ismael Bangoura raced past two defenders from the right and cut it back for unmarked Eleta Kingsley, who fired home from the edge of the six-yard box.
A Morison header on a Shariful cross from the right went over the crosspiece in the 51st minute to deny them an equaliser. BJCM also had their chance to double their lead but Kingsley shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat in the 73rd minute.
Just when it seemed that BJMC were going to leave the pitch victorious, Morison struck the equaliser after a header by Wahed Ahmed fell into his path in six-yard box two minutes from time.
It was the fourth time that BJMC squandered their lead in the league and left the field with draw or defeat.
