The duo just drowned the audience into the world of music where tragic characters of pallikabi Jasumiddin’s phenomenal narrative Nakshi Kanthar Math appeared on the illusion of the audience.
The magical moment created through Kiron Chandra Roy’s voice modulation with Dashrath’s spectacular dhol [an Indian rhythm instrument] performance truly took the audience to the imaginary world where leading characters of the ballad Rupai and Saju narrated their tragic love story dancing and singing.
It was in fact a presentation of the legendary bard Bijoy Sarkar’s ballad based on the story of Jasumiddin’s Nakshi Kanthar Math, the title song of Roy’s latest album titled Nakshi Kanthar Mathey.
The album launching ceremony was held on Tuesday at Chhayanaut auditorium, which also featured some timeless Lalon song performed by the leading traditional singer Chandana Majumdar from her latest album titled Tomar Opar Neeley.
Human rights activist advocate Sultana Kamal unveiled the covers of the both albums produced by Bengal Foundation.
Following the launching ceremony, Chandana Majumdar first appeared onstage and moved the audience with her soothing voice while presenting some unique Lalon songs with the synchronised support of the instruments like flute, dotara, dhol, tabla and key boards.
She began her performance with the song Mukh-e bol re shodai la ilaha illallah. She belted out one after another beautiful songs of mystic Lalon Shah such as O se bajle banshi, Abodh mon re amar and Ke banailo rong mahol khana.
Though the popular singer was prepared to only present the songs from the newly released album, the audience repeatedly requested her to render more songs from her previous albums.
In response to the audience’s demand, she presented the hit number Ar amar-e marish ne ma. Her performance concluded with the title song of the album Tomar apar neeley. The beat less song enriched with the marvelous flute presentation by Abdul Shahid.
Before starting his performance, renowned singer Kiron Chandra Roy urged the urban audience to take part in the process of preserving the beauty of traditional songs, the golden treasury of the country.
Subsequently he presented some magnificent numbers from his latest album. Starting with Nokshi Kathar Mathey, he continued with the songs Bijoy Sarkar’s songs like Bhab na jene piriti koiro na, Musafir phirey chal ghare and others.
The audience expressed sheered satisfaction at the programme.
